Rhondda Cynon Taf · Pontypridd

Data recovery for Pontypridd. A campus, an estate, a case file — one disk holds it all.

Pontypridd is a town of 31,206 people where the Rhondda runs into the Taff, ten miles up the A470 from Cardiff and the junction of the Valley Lines — six trains an hour into Cardiff Central on a weekday daytime. Around it sits the University of South Wales' largest campus at Treforest, an industrial estate begun in 1936, Transport for Wales' head office at Llys Cadwyn and the DWP's Welsh headquarters at Ty Taf. Theses, CAM files, case papers and the contents of a flooded ground floor all end up on one disk with nothing copied. Post it tracked, and the diagnosis costs nothing.

Four notes for Pontypridd.

Ten miles up the A470Pontypridd is where the Merthyr and Rhondda lines meet, six trains an hour into Cardiff Central on a weekday. The bench lies the other way: about 55 road miles east to Bristol, down the A470 and over the bridge, and the courier drives every one of them.
One machine, nothing behind itTreforest Industrial Estate has been running since 1936, and plenty of what sits on it now is three or four people with a single PC holding drawings, quotes and CAM files. A drive that has started making a noise is telling you something.
Tell us the deadlineAcademic timing counts here. A drive that dies three weeks before a submission date is a different job from one that dies in August, so tell us the date.
What it costsNothing is charged for the assessment. The price is written down before work starts and does not shift. Most jobs run no recovery, no fee. From £250 plus VAT, files back on fresh media, return postage ours.

Questions from Ponty.

Are Treforest and Church Village covered?

Both, and Cilfynydd, Glyncoch, Hopkinstown, Ynysybwl, Tonteg and Llantwit Fardre with them. The postcodes do not line up tidily — CF38 reaches down to part of Llantrisant, while Abercynon and Quakers Yard sit in CF45 and CF46 — but none of that matters to a courier, and the trip is the same from all of them.

Our controller no longer has its tool tables. Can they be read back?

Often. Offsets, post-processors and tool libraries usually live on a plain disk or a compact flash card inside the controller, running for years with no copy taken. Remove the card or the drive, leave the machine untouched, and post just that.

The ground floor flooded and the drives were under water. What now?

Do not dry it out and do not switch it on. Corrosion is what actually takes the data, and a hairdryer, a warm radiator or a bag of rice only speeds it along. Seal it in a bag while it is still damp, tell us where it has been standing, and get it here quickly.

How long does a job from Pontypridd take?

Everything is assessed on the day it reaches the bench, and the fixed written price is drawn up straight after that. A logical fault is often finished within a few days. A mechanical one waits on donor parts and runs longer, and which of the two you have is decided first.

One parcel from Pontypridd, and the clock starts.

Do not switch it back on. Tell us what happened, and wait for the free diagnosis before agreeing to anything.
