Cwmbran data recovery. The town was planned to the last kerb; the backup never was.

Cwmbran was designated a new town in 1949, and the Centre built between 1959 and 1981 is still the middle of it — 170-odd shops, a bus station, three thousand free spaces, renamed M Cwmbran in March 2024. What sits around it is not retail. Safran Seats builds aircraft seats here with a thousand staff; Burton's at Llantarnam employs another thousand on Jammie Dodgers and Wagon Wheels; the Grange opened on the eastern edge in November 2020. Turn it off, pack it firm, post it tracked.

Cwmbran, the practical bit.

The distance is ours to coverAbout 33 road miles separate Cwmbran from the Bristol lab, and no direct train runs between them. Tracked post from any NP44 counter on a weekday puts it on a bench next morning.
Packing is the riskMost of the extra damage we see happened after the fault, loose in a jiffy bag or rolling round a box. Use a rigid carton, pad every face, leave nothing free to move. The contact page has the method and the form to print.
If it got wet, say soNever dry a soaked drive out, never open it, and never try powering it up. What ruins the platters is not the water but the residue it leaves as it evaporates. Bag it wet, say where it has been standing, and leave the cleaning to the bench.
A Cwmbran address does not move the priceNothing is charged for the diagnosis. One figure follows in writing, and that figure holds. Most jobs run no recovery, no fee, starting from £250 + VAT, and the postage home is already inside it.

What Cwmbran asks first.

Run from Cardiff — does Cwmbran get the same?

Torfaen is its own county borough, so nothing here turns on a Cardiff address. Devices reach the intake lab in Bristol by tracked post, about 33 road miles east. Hand one in at an NP44 counter on a weekday and an engineer usually has it the next morning. The journey home is ours.

Can a factory PC or a CAD workstation be recovered?

Usually. Assembly models, test-rig logs, recipe and batch records and line-control files all sit on ordinary disks, and they give out the way anything does — heat, years of running, a board that dies. Tell us which files hold up production and they go to the front of the queue.

The office NAS has stopped mounting. What should we do?

Switch it off at the wall and stop there. Take the drives out, number them by bay in the order they sat, and post the bare disks. The Bristol lab wants the drives, not the enclosure, and a NAS left powering up in hope only gets worse.

Is the train any use for this?

No. Cwmbran sits on the Welsh Marches line, which is fine for Cardiff Central at about twenty-four minutes, but there is no direct train to Bristol Temple Meads — every route needs a change and most of an afternoon. Post it tracked instead, or drive it down.

Cwmbran: post it, and we take it from there.

Do not switch it back on. Tell us what happened, and wait for the free diagnosis before agreeing to anything.
